Appointment line for Passports (Child passports applications MUST be made by post ONLY), Birth Registrations, Retention of RSA Citizenship and Exemption from Loss of RSA Citizenship is 09065 540 799.
(South African citizens who want to apply by POST are free to come to the office Monday to Friday between 3 PM & 4 PM to be assisted with the taking of fingerprints)

Foreign Citizens

With effect from June 05, 2006, NO walk – in applications will be accepted. Applications for the following services will be received by appointment ONLY:

  • Passports;

  • Birth Registrations;

  • Retention of SA citizenship;

  • Exemption from loss of SA citizenship;
  1. Applications for other services not cited above can be made by mail ONLY.

  2. Appointments will have to be made 7 working days before a person’s visit to the office.

  3. Appointments for the week beginning June 5, 2006 can therefore only be made from 25 May 2006. Appointments can be made in any of the following ways:

  • Please, note that this will be an unmanned telephone.

  • All clients will be requested to leave their surname, forenames, date of birth, mobile number, e-mail address, suggested date of appointment and type of designated service requested). We will confirm appointments and respond by either e-mail or return call/text message within 24 hours (excluding weekends and public holidays) of the request for an appointment.

IN PERSON:

Pro forma forms will be handed out in the office. Persons interested in making appointments will have to complete the pro forma form and once the appointment has been set, they will be informed accordingly.

 

EMERGENCIES:

The Home Affairs Consular Section operates on an appointment basis for Civic Services and also uses special delivery posts for applications for visas and temporary residence permits. In cases of extreme emergency, applicants concerned should send their emergency requests to: tibak@foreign.gov.za or fax to: 020 7925 8930 - 31. Ensure that you include doctors’ letter or death certificate - Issued by the Department of Home Affairs, in cases of deaths in South Africa and your telephone number so that you can be contacted immediately.

Please, do not proceed to the office without receiving a confirmation to come.
