 VISAS

From 1 September 2009 South Africans will no longer need an appointment to apply for passport and related services rendered by the Consular Section. The Consular Section dealing with South African passport holders have relocated to 15 Whitehall.

APPOINTMENT SYSTEM

The Visa Section is now located at 15 Whitehall and not anymore at South Africa House. The opening hours are Monday to Friday from 08h30 - 10h30. Visitation is by appointment only. Appointment line number is 09065540798.

OPENING & CLOSING OF OFFICE

The office dealing with South African passport holders will be opened from 08:45 AM to 12:45 PM Monday to Friday except on public holidays.

COLLECTION OF ISSUED DOCUMENTS

Collection of issued documents for South African passport holders will be from 08:45 - 12:45 Monday to Friday except on public holidays.

Please provide us with your e-mail addresses so that we can acknowledge the receipt of your applications, also to enable us to inform you when your applications have been processed. The e-mail address must be written at the bottom of the first page of the visa application form.

REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITORS VISAS

3. Valid passport or travel document valid for 30 days after the end of the visit to RSA. Such a passport must have at least two (2) blank pages for endorsement purposes;

4. Statement and or documentation confirming the purpose and duration of the visit. The said statement or letter MUST be as follows:

  • Visitor’s Visa: Letter of invitation from the host in RSA with a copy of the ID or residential status in RSA;
  • Business Visa: Letter from UK & RSA institution(s) confirming the purpose and duration of the visit.

5. Proof of sufficient funds to cover the living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic in the form of:

  • Recent bank statement (3 months);
  • Salary advises (3 months);
  • Cash available, travellers’ cheques.
6. Provisional return flight booking. NO FIXED TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF THE VISA.

7. Copy of full birth certificate as well as letter of authorization in case of minor child travelling alone or with a person other than his or her parents or legal guardian.

PROCESSING PERIOD

The processing period for visas and transit visas is 10 Calendar days

PROCESSING FEE

  • Visa fees are subject to change annually in April.
  • A visa application fee of £35.00 will be requested.
  • Only cash, postal orders or bank drafts will be accepted. Postal orders and bank drafts should be made payable to the 'South African High Commission'.
  • No personal cheques or company cheques will be accepted.
  • The countries whose passport holders are subject to visa fees are listed below under the link: visa fee countries.
  • Zimbabwean and UK passport holders do not pay a visa fee.

Note: No fixed travel arrangements must be made prior to the issuing of the visa and 10 calendar days must be allowed for the processing thereof.
