Appointment line for Passports (Child passports applications MUST be made by post ONLY), Birth Registrations, Retention of RSA Citizenship and Exemption from Loss of RSA Citizenship is 09065 540 799.
(South African citizens who want to apply by POST are free to come to the office Monday to Friday between 3 PM & 4 PM to be assisted with the taking of fingerprints)

Welcome to the web pages of the Home Affairs Consular Section.The Home Affairs Consular section is an attached Department which falls under the auspices of the South African High Commission, London. We however represent the Department of Home Affairs in respect of all functional maters.

The Consular section essentially deals with two types of clients:

  • South African Citizen living in the UK who require services such as application for identity documents, passports, registration of births, copies of marriage, birth and death certificates. Click on the link above for South African citizens .
  • Foreign nationals who want to visit South Africa either temporary or permanently can click on Foreign Citizens

Opening hours are:

  • The opening hours for submission of application are:Mondays to Fridays from 08h45 to 12h45.
  • Our office reopens between 15h00-16h00(Mondays to Fridays) for the collection of temporary passports, emergency passports and passports.

Emergencies

The Home Affairs Consular Section operates on an appointment basis for Civic Services and also uses special delivery posts for applications for visas and temporary residence permits. In cases of extreme emergency, applicants concerned should send their emergency requests to: tibak@foreign.gov.za or fax to: 020 7925 8930 - 31. Ensure that you include doctors’ letter or death certificate - Issued by the Department of Home Affairs, in cases of deaths in South Africa and your telephone number so that you can be contacted immediately.

Please, do not proceed to the office without receiving a confirmation to come.
